What are custom dog socks?

Custom dog socks are crew socks for people, printed with one particular dog taken from a photo of that dog, not from a stock breed design. You upload the picture, our team crops it and places it on the sock, and the pair is printed after you order. If the photo is too blurry, dark or low-resolution to print well, we email you before production so you can send another.

A sock is a small print area, and that shapes every choice on this page. Your pet's face prints much smaller than it looks on your phone, so the detail around the eyes and nose carries the likeness. That makes the photo you pick the biggest decision in the order, bigger than the design or the size.

That is what separates personalized pet socks from novelty socks with dogs on them: these are socks with your pet on them, cropped from your own photo. Customized pet socks work just as well with a cat, and custom pup socks are a fun way to keep a new puppy's face before the adult markings come in.

Which personalized dog socks should you choose?

We offer three designs. All use the same crew sock and the same three sizes; the difference is how your photo is used.

Upload one photo per pet on the product page. There's no name or text field on socks, so your pet's face does all the talking.

Why put your own dog on socks instead of a breed print?

Breed socks are printed from stock artwork, so everyone who buys them gets the same tidy, idealized dog. That's perfect if you simply like the breed. Personalized dog socks earn their place only when the face is recognizably yours.

Doodles show the difference best. A stock goldendoodle has one neat coat, while real doodles run from tight curls to a loose shag, in cream, apricot, chocolate, black or a mix. Markings work the same way: the saddle on a beagle, the white blaze on a border collie, the one ear that never matched the other. Those details only appear when the pair is printed from your photo. If a general dog design is what you're after, browse our socks with dog breed and holiday designs instead.

What photo works best for socks with a dog face?

Shrinking is the whole challenge. A face that fills your phone screen ends up at a fraction of that size, so choose the photo with sock scale in mind:

  • Get close. For the face designs, only the head, ears and chin are used. A close shot keeps far more detail than a faraway one cropped down.
  • Eyes to the lens. A front-on face reads clearly at small size; a side profile can turn into a shape nobody recognizes.
  • Think contrast, not just resolution. A black dog photographed in shade can lose its eyes at sock size. Shoot dark coats in bright, even daylight. For the photo socks, which keep the background, pick a backdrop that differs from your pet's coat.
  • Skip portrait mode. The phone's artificial background blur can smear the edges of fur and ears, and that soft halo stays once the head is cut out. Use the regular photo mode.
  • Send the original. Upload the file from your phone or camera, not a screenshot or a copy saved from a chat app, and leave off filters and stickers.

A quick test before you order: crop the photo to your pet's head, then zoom out until the face is about the size of your thumbnail. If you still recognize your pet, it should work on a sock. If the eyes disappear, look for a closer, brighter shot. Our team crops and places every photo, and you can read the full order process on our how it works page.

Who are custom pet socks a good gift for?

Personal dog socks are a small gift that still feels thoughtful, because the face on them is one the owner knows. Custom dog socks for men and personalized dog socks for men come from the same three sizes, chosen by sock measurement, and each pair is customizable with your dog's face. Socks are light, flat and easy to mail, so they suit people who live far from the dog: grandparents, a college student missing the family pet, a sibling across the country. Nobody has to guess a clothing size, either.

A pair printed with the dog they look after is a thank-you a dog walker, groomer or pet sitter can actually wear. For a family set, order one pair per person with the same pet on every pair. Orders with two or more items take one extra business day to print.

Two photo notes for gifts. A puppy's face changes within months, so if your dog is still growing, pick a photo that already shows the adult markings, or plan on a second pair later. For funny dog socks, start with a photo that's already funny: a head tilt, a tongue out, an ear flipped inside out after a nap. Big expressions survive the shrink to sock size; subtle ones don't.

Some people choose photo socks to keep a pet who has died close by. Any clear photo can work, including an older one. Our pet memorial gifts gather more keepsake ideas.

Here is who a pair suits, the gift snag each person usually brings, and how photo socks handle it:

  • Sock-loving dog moms and cat moms: novelty socks show a cartoon dog that looks nothing like hers. These repeat her own pet's face, cut from her photo, all around both socks.
  • Dog dads at the office: socks for the dad who is hard to buy for usually mean guessing a shoe size; ours are picked by sock measurement instead, with his dog on every inch.
  • Cat people with a fast-moving cat: their cat won't sit still for the camera, and most cat socks are jokes. The Custom Cat Face Socks need just one sharp, front-facing shot, and our team checks it before printing.
  • A best friend who has everything: nobody re-gifts socks printed with their own dog's face. Ask someone in their house for the original photo, so the surprise holds.
  • Matching households: one person in plain socks is always left out of the family photo. Order one pair per person with the same pet; socks for the whole house qualify for the family offer at the top of the page.
  • Couples with one shared pet: a pair each with your shared pet makes a small anniversary surprise that never feels impersonal.
  • Grandparents on video calls: they miss the grand-dog's face between video calls. A pair with that face is a stocking stuffer they'll actually wear.
  • New puppy and newly adopted pet owners: a puppy grows up within months, so a pair from this month's photo marks a stage you won't get back.
  • Christmas and Father's Day shoppers: last-minute stocking stuffers are usually generic. Order early for the holidays, because each pair is printed after checkout, and leave room in case we email you for a sharper photo.
  • Someone grieving a beloved pet: grief makes every gift feel delicate. A quiet pair with that familiar face can be a small daily tribute, never pushy.
  • Multi-pet homes: picking one pet for the socks leaves the others left out. Set the number of pets on the product page, up to five, and each face is cut from its own photo.
  • You, on the dullest day of the week: treat yourself on a dull Monday; your own pet on your ankles turns a boring sock drawer into something to look forward to.

Can your socks match your pet face pajamas at Christmas?

Yes. Socks are one of the easiest photo gifts to wrap, and a pair fits neatly in a stocking. Upload the same photo for your socks and for our pet face pajamas, including the Christmas pajama pants, and the whole outfit carries the same face on Christmas morning. Every order is printed after checkout, so order early for the holidays and leave a little room in case we email you for a sharper photo. More ideas are in our gift guide for dog lovers.

Customized socks with dogs from the household also make an easy stocking stuffer for grandparents and siblings, since nobody has to guess a clothing size.

How do custom dog socks sizes work?

Our socks are sized by the sock's own measurements, in inches, not by shoe size. The maker describes them as "available in 3 sizes for flexible stretch to fit a wide range of foot sizes." Here are the published measurements, taken flat:

SizeFoot length (in)Sock height (in)Width (in)
12.5 x 3.5 in5.57.03.5
14 x 3.5 in6.08.03.5
15.5 x 3.5 in6.88.73.5

The easiest way to choose: lay a crew sock you already like flat, measure it, and pick the closest size. The larger sizes are longer in both the foot and the leg. Our sock size chart has the same numbers if you want them handy.

What are the socks made of?

These are polyester-blend crew socks with stretch, sublimation printed in the USA. We don't list a fixed fiber percentage. What stays the same on every pair: the stretch-to-fit sizing, the made-to-order printing and the US production.

When will your pet face socks arrive?

Every pair is printed after you order. Production takes 2–4 business days, and US shipping takes 2–9 business days. During the holiday season, allow an extra 5–15 business days. We ship to US addresses; Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico and similar areas can take up to 40–45 business days. Our shipping page has the details.

Custom pet socks FAQ

What shoe size do the socks fit?

We don't publish a shoe-size conversion. The socks are sized by sock measurements in inches and stretch to fit a wide range of foot sizes. Compare the table above with a crew sock you already own.

Can I put two pets on one pair?

Yes. Choose the number of pets (up to 5) in the options and upload one clear photo of each pet. Our team places every pet on the design.

Can I put my cat on socks?

Yes. The Custom Cat Face Socks are made for a cat photo, and the face and photo socks take any pet photo too.

Are these socks for my dog to wear?

No. These are crew socks for people, printed with your pet's photo, so you wear the dog. Socks for dogs are a different product, usually grippy paw covers, and we don't sell them.

Will I see a proof before my socks are printed?

We don't send a proof on every order. Our team crops and places your photo, and if it's too blurry, dark or low-resolution to print well, we email you before production so you can choose a better one.

Do customizable dog socks come in men's and women's sizes?

Our customizable dog socks are sized by sock measurements instead of men's or women's sizes. The larger sizes are longer in the foot and the leg, so compare the table with a crew sock that fits you.

What if my socks arrive misprinted?

Custom socks can't be returned for a change of mind. If a pair arrives damaged, misprinted or wrong, email us photos within 14 days of delivery and we'll reprint or refund. See our returns page for how it works.

Where can I buy Christmas socks with my own dog on them?

You can order them right here. Upload your dog or cat photo on the product page, pick one of three sizes by sock measurement, and we print your pair after checkout. Printing takes 2–4 business days and US shipping takes 2–9.

The holiday season can add 5–15 business days, so order early for the holidays. Prefer a breed or holiday design instead of your photo? Browse our socks with dogs collection.
