Yorkie faces are small and hairy, so detail is everything.

Clear the eyes. Clip or brush the bangs aside for the photo. Eyes hidden under hair turn into a fuzzy blob at print size.
Get close. A small dog photographed from across the room has very few pixels in the face. Kneel down and fill the frame.
Use window light. Steel-blue coats go flat in dim rooms; bright, soft light keeps the silver and tan apart.
Skip portrait mode. Artificial blur smears fine hair at the edges, and that halo stays when the head is cut out.
